Vanessa Hudgens

Yes, it's Vanessa Anne Hudgens again -- what can I say? She's become quite the accomplished fashionista. Unfortunately, her glamorous lifestyle isn't always within the grasp of regular girls -- while Vanessa's outfit looks plain and fresh, her dress -- the Jeweled Shift by designer Karta -- is actually over $200! Ouch! Fortunately, the effectiveness of the look comes from its simplicity: a cut pink dress, an eye-catching ring, fluorescent orange nail polish, a ponytail, and a smile.

Just like Kendall Gaveck's cute cotton candy pink top, a facsimile of Vanessa's cerise dress can be found at Wet Seal (who seem to specialize in shades of hot pink this summer!). The Tie Neck Banded Dress ($20.50 US) would look as great over bright tights, leggings, or even dark denim jeans as it would alone -- and try forgoing the ring for a chunky necklace to change up the look. The Solid 8-Button Halter Dress ($21.50 US) has the sparkle of lucite buttons like Vanessa's original, while the Empire Waist Dress and Tie-Back Halter Dress (both $14.50 US) showcase slim, clean lines.

The great fun of this outfit is picking out the perfect ring! Vanessa's big gold rectangle from Neimann Marcus ($395) is pretty, but I prefer the fun, funky, affordable rings available from young jewelry designers scattered around the World Wide Web...

Try a colorful round ring -- like Art School Dropout's Two-Tone Rings for only $5.00 US. The color options are never-ending, so they're sold blind (you don't get to choose your own color) but there are no examples I saw that wouldn't pair well with pink. If you want to show your love of music or vintage, Kitschy Couture's Record Lover Rings ($6.00 US) are almost devastatingly cute.
Since Vanessa's outfit turns heads... why not bring everyone in on a little joke by wearing one? Bethany's Designs' mischievous Flapper Girl Ring ($6.00 US) reminds me of Helen Kane (the real-life inspiration for Betty Boop) -- I actually have both this ring and a matching brooch, and I wear one or the other several times a week! Top Hat Timmy ($8.00 US) from Kitschy Couture has a quizzical look on his face and, at the online store, even has a family -- Petal Penny ($8.00 US), Floralette ($10.00), and Blossomella ($12.00).
Summer is flying by so quickly -- preserve a flower in the form of a pretty petal ring. Kitschy Couture has 25 unique vintage Flower Power Rings from the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s available in every color of the rainbow -- some even have jeweled centers! -- and all run for $10.00 US. Sakura Kitty Creatives' Ferris Wheel Flower Ring is an iridescent peachy-pink that appears to change color depending on your skin tone -- Limited Edition of 3 ($6.75 US). Bethany's Designs converts bright modish fabrics and flea market finds into supercute jewelry, and the Blushing Flower Ring ($6.00 US) is one of my favorites!
If you want a more demure ring, more like Vanessa's woodcarved ring by Stephen Dweck, Sakura Kitty Creatives' impeccably gorgeous Rosalita Ring ($8.25 US) fits the bill -- and get it soon, because it's one-of-a-kind. The Mnemosyne Vine Ring ($7.50) looks like it has stories to tell, and could easily become your own special signature piece... or even an heirloom someday!

Can't live without the adornments on Vanessa's dress (or summer break getting a little dull)? Head to a local craft store like Joann Fabrics and get a pack of pink buttons that match or coordinate with the fabric -- simple gumball buttons or two-hole buttons work best if you're snagging Vanessa's radial spray look -- and a fabric pencil, measure and mark a radial pattern with 1" - 1.5" spacing, and add your own customizations... buttons take only a few stitches to attach!

If you want a more mod look, try a single larger, standout button at the shoulder or collar -- look how cute that pink monkey is! I personally wear those pink sunglass buttons as a fun accent to a lot of my summer clothes... and those are sunglasses you can even wear at night.
