SAVANNAH OUTEN NYC SPECIAL
Part II

Savannah Outen was easily one of the most stylish young singers out there in 2008 -- and I predict she will be in 2009, too! -- so I knew when I was interviewing her that questions about her own favorite clothes and accessories were just too easy.  Once she had answered some questions about her love of peace sign accessories and how hard it is to curl her hair, I pulled out all the stops and asked the tough question:

Who does Savannah think needs a celebrity makeover?

DemiOf course, Savannah is such a nice girl that she had a hard time thinking of anyone to critique!

"Well," she said, "I don't like when celebrities dress... you know, old.  Like revealing.  I don't think that's necessary, it's embarrassing."

"So you won't be dressing like Britney Spears in the 'Baby One More Time' video?" I asked, teasing her.

"No!  And I can't even believe she was my age then!"Selena

Savannah prefers celebrity stylistas who dress appropriately for their age, like Demi Lovato, who she says is her favorite style icon, and Demi's famous BFF Selena Gomez.

"I met Selena at the Kids' Day event, and she just looked so cute.  She always looks so cute!  I don't know how she does it, she just looks perfect all the time, and her hair is perfect all the time, too!"

It's easy to see the influences of Demi and Selena in Savannah's style.  All three girls look like the epitome of Sweet Sixteen, with loose, styled hair and fairly natural makeup (even though Demi is quasi-famous for her black eye shadow!).  They all have the sort of face that reassures that their demure style of dress isn't just for the good publicity -- it's a 'Good Girl' face to match their very Good Girl clothes.  It is indeed a step up from the discomfort that is Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" video.

But who WOULD Savannah make over?

Paris"Well," she hedges.  "I would say Paris Hilton, without a doubt, because she always looks awful.  But then I saw a picture of her the other day in a really cute dress and I think maybe she's turning around because Nicole had a baby."

She thinks for a minute and comes up with some of the reasons why perhaps she should choose Paris -- "That blue dress with her stomach showing was really bad.  I don't like when people show their stomach so much.  And she just looks really overdressed most of the time."

But then it's like she had an epiphany.  "Lindsay Lohan!"

LIndsay"I would choose Lindsay Lohan.  She used to be really so gorgeous, like in 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen', she was so cute.  But then she dyed her hair blonde and it just looks so bad.  And she has those gladiator boots that she wears all the time, and I saw a picture where she was wearing them outside of her pants.  It just looked terrible.  Maybe if she wasn't wearing them outside of her pants, then they would have been OK."

"What do you think went wrong with Lindsay's style, besides her hair?" I ask.

"Well... I think when she got really famous, like with 'Mean Girls,' she started to try to dress too old.  And now, like, she's famous, but she isn't really working.  So she's still trying to dress too old, because that's what she's known for now, but she doesn't have... The way she's dressing doesn't really make sense for the places she wears things.  Like just out on the street, or whatever.  She looks silly.  And she needs to cover up more."

"So what would you do for your celebrity makeover for her?"  I ask again.

"Well... I would probably want to dye her hair red again.  It was really pretty when she had red hair.  And I would take away those gladiator boots!"
