If you’re on a tight budget and don’t have
access to an ala cart music download service such as iTunes,
Radio Disney Jams 9 might possibly be one of
the best ways to inject some great songs to your collection.
One thing is for sure, the times have changed since the
original release of Kid Jams nearly eight years
ago. That album could hardly be considered a hit factory.
If you could some up Volume 9 in one phrase, it’d
be “All Killer – No Filler!”
The
CD kicks off with a track from undisputedly one of the
hottest teen queens Miley Cyrus performing the oh so catchy
If We Were A Movie as Hannah Montana. Next up,
comes one of this generation’s one hit wonders Daniel
Powter with Bad Day. I never considered buying
the full length CD by him, but the single is a winner.
Following it is hands down the best track of Vanessa Hudgens
debut V, Come Back To Me. Shifting gears it’s
Country’s best selling group of 2006 Rascal Flatts
and their version of Life Is A Highway that was
featured on the Cars soundtrack. The Cheetah Girls follow
with the single Strut from the second movie.
Time for yet another huge single with Jesse McCartney’s
Right Where You Want Me (featuring an edit that
trims off a little bit of the original ending). At this
point almost halfway through the disc is Natasha Bedingfield
with her Grammy Award Winning Performance of Unwritten.
Everlife’s lead single I Could Get Used To This
from their recently released self-titled album follows
Natasha. The girls are destined to be a staple of the
current Radio Disney artist roster. Up next, we get the
second track off of The Cheetah Girls 2 Soundtrack, Dance
With Me by Drew Seeley. It features a harder edge
of Drew Seeley that provided the platform for his stellar
individual performance on the High School Musical Tour.
Gwen Stefani is after that with one of the best chill
songs of the last year, Cool. Proving that even
the laid back tunes can be just as powerful as the up
tempo tracks. Next, newcomers T-Squad are featured with
their danceable single from Jump In, Vertical.
For those of you that held off on purchasing the re-release
of Aly & AJ’s album, at last you’ll get
their hottest track ever recorded, Chemicals React.
Ironically it’s followed by another bonus single.
Hilary Duff’s Wake Up from her Most Wanted
Greatest Hits CD. Once again this is another great tune,
but not many fans could justify buying a CD of songs you
already own for a couple new songs. With the CD coming
near the end you finally get a solid rock track with Weezer’s
Beverly Hills. If you haven’t pulled out
the air guitar yet, now’s the time. Finishing out
the CD is perhaps the most anticipated track, The
Start Of Something New (Live) from the High School
Musical Tour. If you saw the show, you’ll get goose
bumps as the intro track plays snippets from the movie
such as “What Team? Wildcats – Getcha Head
In The Game.” Vanessa Hudgens and Drew Seeley start
off the track that’s been reworked to a faster tempo
as well as the addition of electric guitar. It’s
no surprise to hear the high pitched screams coming through
as the pyro goes off and the all-star cast hits the stage
to sing in unison with the crowd. Unfortunately, this
leads into the worst part of the CD – wanting to
hear the next live track. Oh well, that in time will come
but for now, it’s time you considering picking up
the best compilation to serve the tween market yet. Oh
wait, did I mention it also comes with a DVD featuring
some amazing videos?
