He's back! Daniel Craig stars in the latest 007 thriller, Quantum of Solace available now on Blu-ray.
The story picks up right where the previous film Casino Royale left off and in typical Bond fashion, the opening scene is a fast paced thriller - possibly even a bit too fast. From here on, the question that runs throughout the movie is who can be trusted. This ultimately sees Bond going his own way against the will of the MI6. This is challenging since he's not only being sought after by corrupt leaders but the agency he works for. Ultimately Bond must find out who all of the major players are and what their motivation is if he is to succeed.
Put in the context of the last four Bond films, Quantum of Solace delivers plenty of action but lacks in story. There's a lot in the details for this one that might pass the casual viewer. One thing's for sure, Daniel Craig definitely has brought back a lot of character to Bond and continues to excel at it.
This disc comes with several extras including the stunning music video to the the theme song Another Way To Die by Alicia Keys and Jack White. The majority of the segments in the extras highlight the unique locations where the film was shot. One thing worth looking forward to is the amount of real stunt work Daniel Craig did in the film, including a 25 foot jump!
As expected there's a lot of rapid fire, explosive action speeds along with hand to hand combat that might be a little intense for some viewers. There's one particular scene toward the end that is a bit intense in terms of violence that never actually plays out as well. From a language standpoint this is about as clean as it gets for PG-13.
