Another Tween Pop
Act? Not so, pureNRG - Jordan Yates (14),
Carolyn Myers (11), Caroline Williams (12) put together
an impressive debut release on Fervent Records. Seasoned
pop fans will probably be the first to make comparisons
to Jump5. They're not far off, after all this act was
also put together by Norman Miller, worked with producer
Mark Hammond and have refined their dance steps with choreographer
extraordinaire Robin Hargest.
It’s been
awhile since we’ve seen such a complete effort by
such a young act, and it’s refreshing. From the
get go it’s apparent that dance is a major component
of pureNRG and considering their first single is the cover
of Footloose you can definitely see where they
are headed. While this carefree tune stands out, the group
manages to strike a chord with What If, This Madness
and 360 that serve as a foundation for the album
and their beautiful unpretentious look at a world as a
tween. Underneath it all is a deeper spiritual message
with tracks such as Pray, When I Get To Heaven
and Amy Grant’s classic, Thy Word.
Musically if you’re
looking for songs that are easy and fun to sing to, with
a message of hope that can only be delivered by tweens
with a bright future this CD for you.
