Peter Pan In Return To Neverland

Release Date: November 27, 2007
Length: Approx. 73 minutes
Rating: 4 out of 4 stars

Peter Pan In Return to Neverland is a great sequel to one of Disney’s original classics. It brings back the cast of characters including, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Captain Hook, the Lost Boys, and of course Mr. Smee. However this time, Wendy is all grown up, and it’s her daughter Jane who is kidnapped by Captain Hook and whisked off to Neverland for a brand new adventure. However, there’s one big snafu. Jane thinks she’s too grown up to believe in Peter Pan, Neverland, and especially fairies. Can Peter change her mind before her unbelief makes Tinkerbell’s light go out?

Even though the animation isn’t quite as polished as a regular first run Disney animated movie, the story is engaging enough that you’re eyes can forgive some of the lack of detail. And interestingly enough, the beginning of the movie reminded me of a more recent movie where the family is in a bomb shelter, and the children are shipped via train out of London to escape the war. (hint, hint, Narnia).

I truly enjoyed having the opportunity to be taken back to Neverland once again to be reminded that all it takes is “faith, trust, and pixie dust” to feel like a child once again; which is something that Wendy has not forgotten. Does Wendy also get a chance to fly with Peter Pan again? You’ll have to watch the DVD to find that out.
