Earlier in this decade we saw many tween/teen dance groups form to go after the success of the big two (N’Sync and Backstreet). Since that era died in 2002 we hadn’t seen that of type of mainstream music popular until 2008. Enter, the Jonas Brothers who brought back ‘the band’ into the equation. Mission Six from Evansville, IN appear to be one of the first of many to come that follow that era, and for an album whose oldest member is 14 they’ve got a great start.

The debut features nine original tracks and a cover of We Got The Beat by The GoGo’s which clearly shows you’re gonna get plenty of pop with your rock. Tracks worth noting include mid-tempo Better Me, the synth driven Future, Taken From Me (although it bears a very close resemblance to Celebrity Skin by Hole) and Superhero which will translate well live with its chorus.
As expected with a younger act, it’s a little heavy on the production, but if you’re looking for something youthful with promise, this is a good start.
