12-year-old Josh Framm moves to a small town with his family shortly after his father’s death. Josh is sad, lonely, and doesn’t have any friends. He’s too shy to try out for the basketball team, so spends a lot of time alone on an old abandoned basketball court shooting hoops. It’s there that he meets a stray golden retriever named Buddy, who just happens to have a knack for shooting hoops himself. The two become fast friends doing what they both love, playing basketball. They even make it onto the school basketball team together. Josh as a player and Buddy as the team’s mascot. They also become the stars of halftime. But their sudden popularity brings them a huge problem. Norm Snively, Buddy’s mean former owner is devising a scheme to take Buddy back and make money off of his basketball skills. Buddy, Josh, and the entire team have to band together to keep Norm from Buddy.

Air Bud was originally released in 1997, and today, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is releasing an Air Bud Special Edition. In addition to the full-length movie, there are a couple of bonus features. A Dog-U-Mentary with the Buddies: Exclusive commentary from the Buddies (that’s Space Buddies) on Air Bud—the story that started it all! Also being featured is the original theatrical trailer. Even though this movie overall is family friendly, it is rated PG and has some language. But if you have kids that love dogs and like basketball, then they will love this movie.
