Samantha Mumba - 2002

Here are some of the highlights from the Interview.

Tommy: Samantha, can you tell us what you've been up to since your Disney Channel Concert Special with Aaron Carter last year?

Samantha: Since I've done the special, I've toured pretty much all over the world, shot my movie "The Time Machine", I did another album which I just finished and will bringing out just before summer.

Tommy: So do you now consider yourself a singer or an actress or a little bit of both?

Samantha: A little bit of both, if I can. I'm going to be very greedy and do the two.

Tommy: Are there any big movie offers out on the table right now?

Samantha: Yeah, there's a lot happening right now, so keep your fingers crossed that it will work out.

Tommy: Right now you have a chance to really surprise people with the appearance in the movie "Time Machine". Could you tell us a little bit about the role you play?

Samantha: The character I play in the movie "Time Machine" is a girl called Mara, who's eight hundred thousand years in the future. Which is a little bit crazy. There is a whole nother bunch of people and were now called Eloys and were hiding a very deep dark secret.

Tommy: What was the hardest part about becoming Mara?

Samantha: In the movie we have our own different language, that I had to learn. That was quite difficult so that was probably the hardest thing for me.

Tommy: So basically you became a whole new character and took on different mannerisms?

Samantha: Everything had to be different

Tommy: Did the Irish accent ever slip out during the shooting of the film?

Samantha: Oh no, not during takes. It was fine, it wasn't that hard actually at all. It was fun to talk like someone else.

Tommy: With your big career changes did this require you to move to the US or are you still living in Ireland?

Samantha: Well I'm still living in Ireland full time, but I'm hoping to buy somewhere in Los Angeles by the end of the year. I mean the weather for one is completely different. Its always raining and gray at home so parts of America are really really beautiful for the weather. Shopping is better, there are better choices for food, its cool.

Tommy: Aside from the weather, is there anything you are going to miss from Ireland. Like special foods?

Samantha: Loads of food, like Potato Crisps and Irish Sausages.

Tommy: Since you've been out on the road touring, what are some of your favorite locations in America?

Samantha: Favorites are LA, Orlando, Washington, and San Francisco.

Tommy: Now aside from your own music, what kind of cds are you listening to these days?

Samantha: I listen to a little bit of everything, honestly. I buy loads of music, and it just depends on what kind of mood your in. I'm listening to a little bit of Lenny Kravitz, Missy Elliot, Britney, a little bit of Everything.

Tommy: With the new music coming out, and motion pictures is there anything in the works you can tell us about?

Samantha: Of course I do, but your going to have to wait and see them though!
