Nicole C. Mullen - December 4, 2004

Here are some of the highlights from the Interview.

Tommy: You’ve got a new CD out, Everyday People?

Nicole C. Mullen: Yes...

Tommy: What does the album mean to you?

Nicole C. Mullen: Really it’s just a conglomeration of stories from different everyday heroes that I’ve come across doing the singing thing. And just wonderful people, you know from the 7-year old girl named Brianna, her story, to the woman trying to rise after being abused, to the guy trying to get along, trying to get by in life and seeing people overcome in the midst of it. It was seeing ordinary people doing extraordinary things by the power of God so I took time, stepped back and wrote about it and put it out there and hopefully people will be able to see themselves or someone they know in it and at the same time, I think that there’s something for everybody.

Tommy: So it’s actually more like a diary of things that you’ve seen throughout your life.

Nicole C. Mullen: Exactly, exactly and really everyday heroes that we can so easily pass by. I was influenced probably the most by a lady that was in my church growing up. She never recorded, her name was Cecilia, never became famous, but she sang in our church choir, and to me she was just like the cat’s meow. And she spent time with me, she invested in my life, so it’s everyday people that do extraordinary things. They’re the reasons why people are succeeding all over the place. So I waned to take a minute and say thank you to them and tip a hat to them at the same time.
