Kaci - August 2002
Here are some of the highlights from the Interview.
Tommy: Can you start
off by telling us a little bit about yourself, like where
you grew up?
Kaci: I'm Kaci, and I
grew up near Tampa, Florida.
Tommy: And at what age did you actually
start signing?
Kaci: I started singing
when I was about three years old. I use to beg my dad
to go up to this restaurant and I'd perform "Take
Me Out To The Ball Game" "Twinkle Twinkle Little
Star". I just fell in love with performing. And I'm
still performing today. I would perform all over Florida
and by the time I was eleven there was a management company
that wanted to sign with me. My attorney advised me to
go to L.A. for pilot season first, which is where you
go out and audition for movies and tv shows in L.A. So
I went out there and in the breakdowns where you find
out about the auditions and so on. There was a guy looking
for a 18-25 year old male and my mom send a picture of
me and a cd of me singing and he got it and I performed
for him and he ended up giving me the song "Paradise".
And curb records signed me on the spot, and that's now
my record company. I'm signed with Curb Records. We had
that produced by Brian Rollings, who's really big. He's
worked with Enrique Iglasias and Cher, big names like
that.
Tommy: So your career really took off.
I'm sure this is a dream for you.
Kaci: Yeah I'm having
a great time living my dreams.
Tommy: What kind of things do you collect?
Kaci: I keep a lot of
the stuff my fans give me.
Tommy: You also have some hobbies. I
think one of them is kick boxing right?
Kaci: YEAH, kickboxing.
When I'm home I do kickboxing. I'm always really busy
doing school work when I get home, and even on the road.
So that keeps me busy.
Tommy: What about your favorite subjects
in school?
Kaci: I like science
and history.
Tommy: How about your
favorite food, or desert or something like that?
Kaci: Well, I love any
desert, geez! Anything with sugar in it. I love Barbeque
chicken, there nothing better then some BBQ chicken!
Tommy: When you were growing up who were
some of your musical influences?
Kaci: I looked up to
Judy Garland. I still do, I think she's amazing because
she can not only sing, but she can act, and she has it
all.
Tommy: So then what's your favorite Judy
Garland movie?
Kaci: Oh Come On! The
Wizard Of OZ is the all time favorite of course but I
love all of them. My second favorite is probably Meet
Me In St. Louis and then the Easter Parade.
Tommy: Well I know everyone knows "Some
Where Over The Rainbow" from the Wizard of Oz but
since you said Meet Me In St. Louis was one of your favorites
how about singing some of the trolley song for us?
Kaci: Oh are you a big
fan of Judy Garland, that you know all this?
Tommy: Well maybe enough
to fake it!
Kaci: (Sings part of
the song)
