Rachel Boston - October 8, 2004

Here are some of the highlights from the Interview.

Raul: What’s it like portraying a mom?

Rachel Boston: I think more importantly to me with what’s going on right now in Iraq. Just shooting a scene where I find out my fiancé is Missing In Action and then coming back to my dressing room and turning on the news and seeing other women deal with it right now. It’s just, this show has never been more relevant. So I’m really proud of the work they’re giving us to do.

Raul: Now for you, your character is gonna go through quite a bit this year.

Rachel Boston: Yes I am. Well with a new child on the way and just waiting for JJ to return we’ve definitely come a long way from the first season of JJ and I just fighting over wanting to go to college mixers. It’ll be babies and diapers and much more to do.

Raul: Did you look back at that time before you even joined the show and think that would be fun?

Rachel Boston: My grandmother still lives in the 60’s, so I feel as though I grew up in the 60’s sometimes. She saved every magazine, every piece of fabric that my mom ever wore when she was growing up so I went back home before we started shooting the series, and just went through her attic.I still have all of my moms fantastic 60’s dresses and nightgowns. We found her record collection and so my brothers and I love going down to her house in Nashville and we go in the basement and listen to Beatles records.

Raul: And you enjoy it out here?

Rachel Boston: I do! I moved her from New York. I moved to Burbank first so it was a huge New York City subway to freeways and Hollywood! So the hardest thing to do was learning to drive. That was much more difficult than figuring out how to play a girl in the 60’s. So, once I got the freeways down, I was like – Okay, I can play a girl in the 60’s.
